How to Choose a Mobile Tint Installer (10 Questions to Ask)

Buyer's GuideAugust 14, 20266 min read

Ten questions that separate a good mobile window tint installer from a cheap one — film brands, warranty terms, prep process, and pricing red flags.

**Short answer:** ask what film brand and series they use, what the warranty covers in writing, and how they prep the glass. Vague answers to those three are enough to walk away.

The 10 questions

1. **What film brand and series?** "Ceramic" isn't an answer. XPEL, 3M, Llumar, SunTek, and Rayno all have distinct product lines. 2. **What's the warranty, in writing?** Bubbling, peeling, delamination, and color change should all be listed. 3. **Is the warranty transferable?** Matters at resale. 4. **How do you cut patterns?** Computer-cut plotter patterns beat hand-cutting on the glass — no blade contact with your defroster lines. 5. **How do you prep the glass?** Should include a full interior and exterior clean and edge detailing. 6. **What VLT will each window be?** Get numbers, not "dark." 7. **Where will you work?** A pro will want wind protection and will reschedule bad conditions rather than trap dust. 8. **What's the cure time and care plan?** They should tell you before you pay. 9. **What happens if there's a defect?** Response time and remake policy. 10. **Total price, all in?** Removal, windshield, and travel fees included or itemized.

FAQ

Are mobile installers worse than shops?

No. Prep discipline is what matters, not the building. A careful mobile installer in a garage beats a rushed shop bay.

Should I check licensing and insurance?

Yes — ask, and expect a straight answer.
